Plymouth Alternative High School Program

Welcome to Plymouth's Alternative High School Program!

August 16, 2010

Dear Alternative High School Students and Parents,

I hope this letter finds you well-rested and relaxed as we approach the beginning of the 2010-2011 school-year. For some of you, this year will be memorable in that it marks your final year of high school- June 4th is not that far away! For others, it will be a year closer toward your goal of attaining your high school diploma. Either way, I anticipate this school year being one of excitement, fun and challenge for each of you.

The standards for students in the AHS program will be higher than in the past. Both academically and socially, the staff of this program will expect your best efforts and attitudes in school and out (you represent the AHS even when you are not in school!). The number of unexcused absences will be lower than in the past and the level of respect and responsibility will be increased. If you miss a day of school (or any class time) you will be expected to make up the missed work in a timely manner. We will have detention one night per week for any student who is behind in any area of their studies. You will have the support and resources you need to keep up with your work and falling behind is unacceptable. It is YOUR responsibility to seek out your teachers or peers for the support you need.

Our first day of school is Tuesday, September 7. I need each of you to call, text or e-mail me before Tuesday, August 31 to let me know what your transportation needs are for the first day.

I want to remind you that your participation in the AHS is a privilege and you must express and show your commitment every day. On the first day of school you will be required to sign a contract indicating your desire to be a part of the AHS. You will also write specific goals you have for this year, so you should start thinking about these as you prepare to get back into “school mode”.

Finally, I want you to consider my favorite quote- “The choices you make dictate the life you will lead.” Each of you has chosen to participate in Plymouth’s Alternative High School Program. I am confident this choice will prove to be one that will help make your life more successful!

I truly look forward to seeing you on September 7 and encourage you to contact me if you have any questions.

Mr. Gobeil
