Substitute Teaching

Plymouth has an on-line substitute teacher placement system (Aspen); the explanatory letter is further down this page.

Currently, Plymouth Public Schools substitute teachers earn $80.00 per day if they are currently certified by the DESE, and $70 if they are not currently certified. If the substitute remains in the same position for 20 consecutive days, then the per diem goes to bachelors divided by 180 ($224.84) on the 21st day. This pay scale remains in effect for each subsequent day in that position.

There is a simple form below that you should complete in order to initiate the process. (The form is in Adobe PDF format; it can be opened using Adobe Acrobat Reader which you can download for free by clicking here.) You can fill the form out on your computer, print it, and then send it to us. Please, complete it and send it to:

Substitutes Explanatory Information

The Plymouth School District Substitute Office continues to strive to provide better service to all our substitutes and staff. We utilize the Aspen platform, which is also our Student Management System to accomplish this. We believe utilizing Aspen helps our substitutes once they are in the building and substituing in classrooms.

Once you complete your application paperwork and submit it to Central Office, you will be contacted for an interview to be placed on the substitute list. During this meeting you will be trained on the Aspen system and how to retrieve open substitute positions once you are appointed.
