We'd like to extend a huge congratulations to Mrs. Jenn Hessel-Smith, PE Teacher at Nathaniel Morton Elementary School, who just received the Nikki Tishler Memorial Award at MassDOT's 20th Annual Massachusetts Safe Routes to School Award Ceremony at the State House. One individual in the Commonwealth is awarded this title each year, and we are so incredibly proud of Jenn!
"Taking matters into her own hands, Jenn developed a three-week long bike unit and acquired a fleet of bicycles and scooters to teach students how to ride, and how to do so safely. ... She represents a strong advocate for active transportation and student wellness, as well as a true champion of the State Routes program. She is most deserving for her efforts of building a strong bike community in Plymouth, and inspiring others to do so."
