Facilities Mission

Our mission is to support the students and staff of the district by providing a safe, clean and well maintained environment in which to learn, play and develop.  We strive to complete this mission using fundamental attributes including knowledge, teamwork, integrity, and respect.

Our Department is responsible for the overall cleanliness and maintenance repairs to our thirteen facilities which includes twelve schools and one administrative building, which also houses Harbor Academy, related grounds, and athletic fields.  The Facility Services Office is located on the third floor of the Administrative Building located at Eleven Lincoln Street.

We oversee the duties of all the custodial and maintenance staff throughout the district as well as our skilled craftsmen and our groundskeepers. Our department is made up of eighty-eight people including a Director, an Assistant Director, a Secretary, a Carpenter, a Plumber, two Electricians, two HVAC Technicians, twelve Head Custodians, eight Maintenance Custodial Floaters, four Groundskeepers, a Truck Driver, a Building Coordinator, and fifty-two Custodians.

Our department works year-round to maintain the buildings and grounds in excellent condition for all to enjoy.  We are also responsible for the following district-wide needs:

  • Initiation and oversight of capital outlay requests, bids, and special projects

  • Snow removal operations

  • Preventative maintenance work order requests

  • Environmental, including air, water, indoor air quality and pest control

  • Playground Safety

  • Vehicle and equipment maintenance and repair

  • Procurement of supplies, materials and equipment

  • Emergency response coordination

During these ever changing and uncertain times, the Facilities Department is dedicated to the safety of our students, staff, and all family members of those to attend, or are employed by, Plymouth Public Schools.  We pledge to work tirelessly to construct and maintain an environment that will enable our students and staff to return home after each day safe, healthy, educated, and fulfilled.

We are all here to serve you so please don’t hesitate to call or email any concerns and we will do our best to address and correct any problems in a timely manner.

Energy/Sustainability

The Plymouth Public Schools has made great strides in reducing overall energy consumption and costs through conservation efforts, efficiency upgrades, and renewable energy project development. These accomplishments have helped financially by offsetting other rising costs and have also demonstrated the commitment this district has towards sustainability.

Though there are many definitions of sustainability available today, a commonly accepted definition would include meeting the needs of current generations without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. With this definition is the realization that the world is interconnected across social, economic, and environmental boundaries.

With this understanding of sustainability, and through our actions and instruction, we hope to demonstrate for all Plymouth students how an organization such as ours and the individuals within it can have an impact and promote positive change both locally and globally.
